QUEST SCHOOLS' INITIATIVE FOR CATCHING THEM YOUNG

At the forefront of sustainable educational development, Quest schools have consistently met the growing demands of childhood education. The SMEV (Science, Mathematics, English, and Vocation) initiative has been instrumental to the realisation of the school's objectives in qualitative childhood education, holistic development, and empowerment for underserved populations. You will find the details of this program in subsequent paragraphs very insightful.

In the 2022/2023 academic session, Quest Academy, a subsidiary arm of the Quest schools, initiated SMEV. Borne out of the need to provide a well-rounded education that not only fosters the academic excellence of scholars at the primary level but also scaffolds other areas of foundational education in creative, vocational and problem-solving capacities, the SMEV initiative was birthed on the objective of providing basic skills to primary school pupils within the contexts of critical, academic and vocational endeavours. The testimonies of the initiative continue to reverberate as scholars in our academy have moved on to become well-grounded in a broad range of topics in the sciences, humanities, technology and vocation.  We applaud the effectiveness of this program in the holistic reinforcement of our pupils and appreciate the dedication of Quest Academy and the facilitators who have been immensely impactful.

Not only have the pupils reacted positively to the conception of the SMEV workshop but the focus of the workshop, which is to develop fundamental skills in elementary school pupils, is being fulfilled by the day. One of our facilitators, Caleb, attested to the immensity of the SMEV workshop in catering for basic literacy reinforcement of pupils beyond the confines of classroom boundaries.

Opeyemi Iremide, a Quest  Academy scholar in primary four, also accentuated the impact of the SMEV initiative on her literacy skills.

According to Iremide: "The SMEV program has helped me speak more fluently because we learnt vocabulary. Before, I used to make some mistakes between verbs and nouns, but now, I have improved”.

Ayoola Israel in primary five said that  “The SMEV has helped me a lot; I learnt about science, mathematics, vocational, and other things. I even learnt how to make tie and dye during the SMEV session".

The impacts of the SMEV initiative on the scholars have been captured in the areas of academic improvement, skill development and increased enthusiasm for learning. We appraise the impacts of this scheme in collaboration with the United Nations' advocacy for sustainable educational development, and the vision of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) since 1945:
