When Gold Is Found: Oreoluwa's Story of Grit

Gold only becomes valuable when it’s discovered, refined, and allowed to shine. That’s the guiding belief at Quest Schools. We see our scholars not just as learners, but as treasures waiting to be uncovered. 

One of such discovery is Ayerinya Oreoluwa, a soft-spoken but fiercely determined scholar who has proven that when brilliance meets opportunity, the results are extraordinary.

Oreoluwa’s story is not just about grades, it's about grit, grace, and the quiet fire of a young girl who refused to be defined by limitations.

She first joined Quest Academy as a scholarship student in Primary 1, a child full of potential, yet without the financial means that often gatekeep high-quality education. But from the moment she walked through our doors, something in her presence hinted at greatness. Not loud. Not showy. Just steady, committed, and deeply curious.

"She was the kind of student you never had to chase,” one of her early teachers recalls. “She chased knowledge. She came early, stayed focused, and never looked for shortcuts.”

When she transitioned to Quest College, still on full scholarship, that same drive followed her. This wasn’t just a new school; it was a new stage. A place where her discipline could deepen and her dreams could grow wings.

And they did! At the end of her first term at Quest College, Oreoluwa achieved a remarkable fit: a perfect 5.0 GPA.

“I was really excited about my performance. At first, I thought I could even score higher than 5.0. I didn’t realise it was the maximum GPA!” Oreoluwa shared with a laugh.

Speaking with our correspondent, her mother, reflecting on the achievement, was equally moved by the performance.

“I was happy about my daughter’s excellent performance, considering she just entered Quest College. I have always encouraged her not to grow weary in doing well in her academics, and I am truly happy she’s doing well.”

Her mentor, Ishola Olamide, also had glowing words about her resilience and focus.

"Ore is very focused and success-driven. When she doesn’t understand a subject, she always comes back with questions. I’m glad she never gave up or took her studies lightly, despite the challenges she faced. Her determination has brought her this far,  and I hope she continues to hold on to that drive."

To honour her dedication and performance, she was awarded a plaque and gifts during the school's second-term closing ceremony. But perhaps even more valuable than the gifts was the recognition, the collective applause, the spark of pride in her eyes, and the quiet moment when she realised that all her small efforts had added up to something significant.
